I’ve been sitting here in my not-quite finished home office (I’ll get back to this later) for hours trying to come up with some ground breaking, awe-inspiring idea for my first blog post - I even watched a couple Youtube videos and read other blogs about starting a blog (because when you feel desperate a little bit of inception seems like a legit helping hand right??) And like a penny parachuting rather than dropping, it hit me - at some point you just have to START!
"Pro"crastinator
You see, I put the “pro” in procrastination. Take this blog for example, late one night my friend and I came up with the idea of starting a blog together for all those mums out there who like us, are hustlin’ through their days taking care of their kids, their spouse, not to mention the house and everything in between. And more often than not putting themselves on the back burner in need of a bit of self-care with a side of sanity. So my amazing friend had the website setup in what felt like minutes that very night and has since made a couple posts - you should definitely go check them out after this.
That night was two months ago and I’m only starting to contribute now - like I said, I'm a “pro”. The silver lining with this story is that it comes back to the purpose of this blog - to be a place where a mum can make the effort for her own benefit and stop procrastinating with her own needs. To make changes and stop using the never ending list of responsibilities as an excuse to distract and postpone her dreams, find her own voice, rediscover her own worth and remind herself that she is a multi-faceted gem with more to her identity than “just mum” - that’s you by the way!
Ready, set...
I get it, sometimes we’re restricted by things we actually can’t control - especially when it comes to income or lack thereof (been there, still am). But even a small change can be a first step towards a brighter direction for your future. It could be as simple as making sure you eat something with your morning coffee, stealing a few minutes to yourself in the car before picking the kids up from school, or biting the bullet and typing your unorganised thoughts out in your not quite finished -but still good enough to start- home office.
..GO!
If you’ve come this far then thank you for one, I would love to hear what you have to say about anything I've made mention of or if you just have some tips on how I can do this blog thing better! But more important than that, ask yourself what is one thing you could do right now that would make a positive change in your life? It doesn’t have to be big, it just has to be different, because at the end of the day we all have to start somewhere - so why not start with yourself??
Leave your comments or suggestions below and we'll catch you on the next post -
xx
